TKAM# 4

Perspective: Jem

In maycomb we had a new visitor, Tim “mad dog” Johnson he had came to Maycomb, I heard about this dog from Atticus talking to neighbors and Ms.Maudie. The sherif Heck Tate tells Atticus to shoot the dog because he was nervous, he hadn't used a gun in so long. So, surprisingly Atticus shoots the dog right in the head, Scout and I almost fainted when we heard that he did that. We though that Atticus couldn't do anything but go to work and read. Scout tells me that she is so happy that she is going to tell everyone about Atticus and what he can do. I tell her that if he wanted us to know about him being a shooter, he would have told us.

I messed up Ms. Maudies garden so to pack her back Atticus is making me go to her house every day and making me read to her for 2 hours. Scout and Atticus had a long talk about defending Tom Robinson and Sout doesn't think that its fair. Scout went with me to read to Ms. Maudie and she wasn't very nice, she made fun of Scouts clothing and calls her an ugly girl. Every day it seemed like the days grew longer and longer, the alarms would ring at a different time every day. When I was done with my sessions with Ms. Maudie I went home one day and Atticus tells me that Ms. Maudie had Passed away. Atticus wanted to show me what a great person she was even though she seemed mean and she gave me the plant that I messed up and I felt really bad because I know that I shouldn't have done that.
