From Haven to Home
The purpose of this exhibit was to show and tell people about American Jews and their escape through the underground railroad. What I learned from this museum was that the Underground railroad was originally built for the Jews. Also that from early in the 19th century, American Jewish women played active roles outside the home in Jewish philanthropy and education. The fact that I found interesting was that the underground railroad was originally built for the Jews. I thought that it was built for African American slaves, I also thought that it was used for the slaves to escape areas were slavery was legal and it was an escape route to areas were it was illegal.

1) One photograph that I found interesting was the picture called Street Play: Chicago 1997, I chose this picture because it looks a lot like were I used to live and I can really relate to it and brings back a lot of good memories.
2) The quote that I chose was "Home is a place to protect my family and me. A place to sleep, eat, study, and take a bath. Also the sweetest and safest place I have ever been in." - Rasy Nhol, Cambodia. I chose this quote because I can really relate to this and I love my home as well.
3) The eassy that I chose was from Mark Sera, I chose this because he really explains who he was, what he went though, and talks a lot about the obstacles that he had to go through. The title America the Brave got me really thinking about what he was going to talk about.
